Johnnie Sixkiller, 63, of Troy
Johnnie J. Sixkiller, 63, of Troy, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital of a hemorrhagic stroke.
He came to Lincoln County in 1999, residing at Libby and later in Troy in 2006.
He was born at Ponca City, Okla., on Jan. 24, 1950, to Emory and Joan (Jo) Sixkiller. He was raised and educated at Claremore, Okla. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1969 until being honorably discharged in 1971, including duty in southeast Asia.
He worked for many years as a long-haul truck driver and later for the U.S. Forest Service. He and his wife came to Alberton in 1985 prior to coming to Libby. After moving to Libby, he worked for Remp Sand & Gravel until retiring.
John had many different interests, being “jack of all trades and master of none.” He greatly enjoyed the Montana outdoors, especially hunting and had been a firearms enthusiast.
He also enjoyed raising and keeping horses and mules. He took seriously his political soapbox, particularly regarding the current executive branch of government.
Preceding him in death were his father and infant granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; his sons, Emory of Mouldry, Ga., Justin of Anaconda and Jacob of Butte; his mother, Jo Sixkiller of Claremore, Okla.; and five siblings, Steve, Susan, Tammy, Danny and Kathy, all of Oklahoma; and nine grandchildren.
Private arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home.
