Cutting veterans' benefits is flat-out wrong
Letter to the Editor,
Have you heard about the new budget and can you believe the veterans’ retirement pay will be cut?
I just can’t believe any of our congressmen or congresswomen could allow that to happen, but it did.
I agree we need to cut down on spending, but as I understand it, we will be spending more than ever. Oh yes, there is a half-hearted $20-some billion to cut the deficit over the next 10 years — big deal, right?
I wonder if our illustrious president ever thought about staying home for Christmas instead of flying off to golf in Hawaii on Air Force One, Air Force 2, and how many C-130s hauling all the limos and equipment and all the Secret Service, cooks, housekeepers, etc. I’m sure all the millions this cost us taxpayers would go a long ways to make up for the cuts in our veterans retirement.
