Cynthia Stephens, 65, formerly of Libby

Cynthia Anne Stephens, 65, passed away on Feb. 24, 2014, at her home in Richland, Wash., after a long battle with lupus and a short battle with cancer.

Cynthia was born on June 9, 1948, in Libby to Willis D. and Lila G. Fields. She was raised in Libby and graduated from Libby High School in 1966.

She married Daniel Stephens on Oct. 1, 1966.  They lived in Libby until 2003, where they raised their three sons.  Upon Dan’s retirement in 2003, they traveled for a year before settling in Richland, Wash.

Although Cynthia worked outside the home for a number of years, her most important job was taking care of her husband and boys.  Cynthia worked at St. John’s Hospital, Libby school district and Cabinet View Motors.  

Cynthia loved to cook and to feed people.  She enjoyed skiing, golf, knitting, her horses and her dogs.  She belonged to several organizations in Libby, but her service to Christ Lutheran Church was her main focus.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her father, brother Richard, and sister, Beth.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Dan, of Richland Wash.; sons,  Scott (Annette) of Holywell Row, United Kingdom, Michael (Trishia) of Kennewick Wash., Ryan (Jenise) of Cottage Grove, Ore.; mother,  Lila Fields of Ramer, Tenn.; and sister, Susan (Tim) Baker of Ramer Tenn.

She is also survived by grandchildren Josh (Ashley), Zachary (Rachel), Caleb, Gabe (Lindsey), Adam (Tiare), Tre, Courtney, Cherina (Travis), Kymmy, Lane; and great-grandchildren, Luke, Daniel and Falynn. And her two dogs Gracie and Gus.

 Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held later this spring in Libby.
