Board to begin contract talks

Libby School Board members will convene Monday to further discuss and begin drafting a contract for superintendent candidate Craig Barringer.

“We’ll have our agenda meeting at 4:30 p.m., and then we’ll begin talking about the contract about 5 p.m.,” Board President Ellen Johnston said. “It’ll be a preliminary document that we hope to take to Craig.”

Barringer, 50, is currently the superintendent for the Conrad School District. The board extended a contract offer last week, but those talks have been slowed.

“I’ve been working with Joe Brott,” Johnston said, confirming that Bob Vogel, the Montana School Boards Association director of government relations has taken some time off.

On Thursday, Barringer said eagerly seeks to begin contract talks, again saying he is “comfortable with the salary range” of $98,000 to $104,000 that falls within the Libby district job description.

“Oh, absolutely,” Barringer said. “I was very excited with my visit there. I’m anxious to get back to western Montana.”
