Bethene Candee, 88, of Libby
Bethene C. Candee, 88, of Libby died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at the Libby Care Center.
She was born March 26, 1925, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to George and Nora (Doyle) Cottrell.
Bethene was raised in Jennings. Bethene married Charles Candee on Feb. 14, 1942.
She lived in Libby for many years. Bethene worked as an operator and chief operator at General Telephone of the Northwest in the 1940s and ’50s. She also worked for Libby Rexall drug for 15 years.
In 1986, she returned to adult education and received her GED.
Bethene is preceded in death by her husband, Charles; a brother, Mel; four sisters, Jackie Powell, Georgia Parker, Jody Collier and Geraldine Fletcher, as well as a great-grandson, Elijah Candee.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Beth (Larry) Stroklund of Libby; grandchildren, Suzanne Loudan of Libby, Christopher (Sharla) Candee of Libby; two great-grandchildren, Ashlynn and Aidan Candee of Libby; a brother, Darrell Cottrell of Kalispell; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of the resurrection will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Libby.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2014, with Rosary starting at 5 p.m.
