Resident disenfranchised with county leaders
Letter to the Editor,
I’ve lived in Lincoln County, owned property, paid taxes and voted here for 30-plus years, and I have never seen such a screwed-up mess in government.
Make no mistake: The same folks are screwing up the county that screwed up the city and continue to do so. No transparency, closed-door meetings and canceling meetings where opposing ideas can be presented became the norm under Mayor Berget and continue under Mayor Roll.
The way these interests have treated duly elected representatives D.C. Orr and Allen Olsen shows the true colors of our civic leaders and how willing they are to disenfranchise both we, the citizens, and our elected representatives.
All you need is a person for a city attorney who’s willing to interfere with fair elections and justice of the peace willing to ignore evidence and the rule of law to rule by self-opinion.
With this said, our county’s current situation is no surprise. One can either believe that we have the most negligent and incompetent county commissioners, commissioners’ assistant and clerk and recorder office in the state. Or one can believe that we have a bunch of leaders who are lying to us and cheating.
It’s obvious we need a grand jury to look into all the financial dealings in Lincoln County.
Big Baucus bucks have brought big government corruption. Until the state fulfills its obligation to send in some good forensic auditors, these guys will continue this until they are caught, punished and thrown out of their jobs.
Hopefully, we won’t have to change the name of the courthouse to the “Den of Thieves.”
