The terms of Libby School Board members Lori Benson and Amy Fantozzi will expire this year, and thus far nobody has filed to run for their seats.

Fantozzi, who is a new mother, said she has yet to decide whether to run for re-election.

“I haven’t decided yet,” Fantozzi said Wednesday evening during a meet and greet for Libby Superintendent candidate Craig Barringer.

Benson said she has picked up the application packet, but has yet to return it to the board office.

“Yes, more than likely I will run,” Benson said. “I feel like it almost takes a term to really see how it all works. I think now that I do, I owe it to the community. I will run again.”

The filing deadline for the May 6 election is March 27.

Persons seeking to run must pick up, complete and return an application to the board office. Applications are available from District Clerk Leslie Forster.

The seven-member board elects new members every year. Last year, Leslie Nelson and John Carlson were elected to the board. Each board member serves three-year terms.
