Elsie D. Broden, 87, of Libby died Wednesday Feb. 12, 2014, at Immanuel Lutheran Care Center in Kalispell

Elsie was born March 18, 1926, in Kenmare, N.D., to Martin and Christine (Kalland) Christensen.

Elsie was one of 12 children, five boys and seven girls. Elsie graduated from Kenmare High School with the class of 1945. She then entered the Army Nurse Corps. with the Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, Minn., becoming a registered nurse in 1948.

Elsie married John R. (Bob) Broden on July 31, 1949. Elsie was preceded in death by sons, Paul and Alan, as well as her husband, Bob.

Survivors include four sons, Robert (Vicki) Broden of Colville, Wash., Bruce (Bonita) Broden of Libby, Kirk (Tami) Broden of Tacoma, Wash., Kim (Bobbie) Broden Gillette, Wyo.; daughters, Linda (Rod) Randash of Clarksville, Tenn., Brenda (Gary) Cooper of Libby, Kathryn (Tim) Ague of Libby, Kris (Ray) Reid of Adams, Tenn.; 20 grandchildren, Eric, Gaby, Maggie, Chari, Carli, Josh, Emily, Katie, Karrie, John, Cyndi, Josiah, Sarah, Kit, Jonah, Noelle, Nick, Nate, Nolan, Spencer; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday Feb. 15, 2014, at Libby Christian Church.

Interment will follow at the City of Libby Cemetery.

Local arrangements are under the care of Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home.
