The Lady Loggers wasted no time in jumping out to a lead against Whitefish on Friday night. Libby’s girls held Whitefish scoreless in the first quarter to open up an 11-0 lead.

“It was a very good start to our game,” said Libby coach Jim May.

The team had an exceptional defensive third quarter as well, outscoring Whitefish 15-1 on the way to a 48-23 final.

The Lady Loggers spread out the scoring, with nine players racking up the points. Daylyn Germany and Shyla Stevenson led all scorers with eight each. Shannon Reny added seven, Devon Gallagher chipped in six and Hailey Craig scored five to round out the top five scorers.

Hailley Moe, Madisen Monigold and Abby Ennenga each contributed four, with Trinity Wallace adding two to bring Libby’s total to 48.

Head coach Jim May praised the hard work of the entire squad for their early success.

“We’re playing a lot of kids, and they’re all contributing,” May said. “They really get after it, we need to keep that up.”

The Lady Loggers stand at 2-1 for the season, after splitting their opening games at the Tip-Off Classic in Missoula.

The girls will kick off their home season after the holidays, with Flathead visiting on Jan. 2. On Jan. 3 they’ll be on the road against Columbia Falls before returning to Libby for a four-game home stand against Troy, Frenchtown, Plains and Polson starting on Jan. 9.
