Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies have arrested 33-year-old Jacob Dixon in connection with a break-in at a vacant home on Dec. 10.

A local resident contacted the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday to report a suspicious person entering a vacant property on Minnesota Ave.

According to documents filed with Lincoln County Justice Court, Detective Nagle and Undersheriff Faulkner of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s office responded to the call and were advised that a male suspect wearing jeans and a black coat had entered the home through a window and then fled out of the back door.

Libby Police Chief Jim Smith joined the search and detained the suspect walking on Bowen Hill.

A male witness positively identified Dixon as the man who had entered the property, while a female witness tentatively identified him, telling the arresting deputy, “I think that’s him.”

Both witnesses confirmed that the suspect had been seen looking around the vacant residence on Tuesday.

The Affidavit of Probable Cause for Charges filed with Lincoln County Justice Court states that after being read his Miranda rights, Dixon admitted to entering the home. Dixon was booked into the Lincoln County jail.
