Aug. 22, 1963: One end of a lamiinated beam supporting the gym roof will eventually rest here. Ironworkers are tying reinforcing steel around which concrete will be poured to form a footiing for an arch pier. Nine arch pier footings are located on either side of the gym. The gym roof span is 201 feet. The beams are 14.5 inches wide and 42 inches deep. Height is 45 feet from finished floor to top of beam. Each beam is 114 feet long on the high curve, ad beams from either side will join at the middle of the roof.
