Tammy Lauer is qualified for clerk and recorder position

| August 19, 2014 10:59 AM

(EDITOR'S NOTE: One of the authors of this letter, Kayley Robertson, is working for the Tammy Lauer campaign.)

In response to Tina Moore’s letter to the editor Aug. 8, we would like to correct her information and assure Lincoln County voters that a vote for Tammy Lauer is not a mistake.

Our vote is not based on popularity, but rather on voting in the most qualified for the job.

Tammy Lauer was voted by her peers across the State of Montana as the 2014 president of the Montana Clerk and Recorders Association, obviously she is well respected state-wide. Her training and experience reflects this.

With over 700 hours of training and seven years on the job, she is, and will continue to be, the best person for the job.

We would also like to correct Ms. Moore’s assumption that the money was “mishandled” by the clerk and recorder’s office. This money was not “misused” by Lincoln County, but simply over-allocated to those departments for which it was intended.

This arithmetic error was addressed at a public meeting and our current clerk and recorder stood up with integrity and explained the facts, and her intentions for rectifying a mistake that originated before she took office.

Ms. Moore is obviously not as informed as she pretends to be. The county does not provide lunch for the clerk and recorder while on the job in Lincoln County.

There have been public forums county-wide to hear the candidates answer questions about what the clerk and recorder’s responsibilities and qualifications are.

If Ms. Moore had attended these forums and listened to the candidates’ answers, she would know Tammy Lauer is the only one with the experience and knowledge to do this job.

We give Tammy Lauer our full support and are confident that she will continue to serve Lincoln County with honesty and integrity.
