Alan Lamey, 77, of the Kootenai Valley

Alan B. (Red) Lamey, 77, a lifetime resident of the Kootenai Valley, died Sunday at a Libby Hospital.  

Born in Libby to John and Virginia (Williams) Lamey on June 25, 1937, he attended Libby Public Schools where he participated and lettered in all Libby High School sports, most especially baseball. He later played on the farm team for the Washington Senators. He married Carolyn Zajanc June 25, 1958.

Red had been a longtime employee of the J. Neils Lumber Company, St. Regis Paper Company and Champion International until retiring, working as a grader operator.  

He had been an active participant in adult sports activities in the community and had volunteered his time as a coach of Little League, Junior Legion, Babe Ruth and Legion baseball teams, including the state championship team of 1974.  

He later married Sherry Cosgriff June 10, 1989.  They enjoyed working in their yard and gardening.  He was preceded by his wife Sherry in April of this year; his sister Betty and his parents.
