Hanson's bond set at $500,000 after altercation
Larry Hanson was arrested Aug. 5 and is being held in custody under a $500,000 bond after Janelle Doubek, his ex-girlfriend, told authorities he had followed her, knocked out her car’s taillight and stole things from her house.
It was not the only time Hanson, 45, has gotten in trouble with the law because of an altercation with Doubek.
Hanson was also arrested on March 27 for a count of partner or family-member assault and three other charges: a misdemeanor criminal mischief count, a misdemeanor stalking count and a misdemeanor criminal trespass count.
Later, after a May 31 altercation after which Doubek had swelling and red marks on her face, Hanson was arrested for yet another partner or family-member assault charge.
Hanson reached a plea agreement on those previous charges with Lincoln County Attorney Bernie Cassidy. That agreement allowed Hanson to serve his jail time on weekends for a total of 29-days. He was also required to join anger-management counseling, to stay away from Doubek and pay fines totaling $385.
Hanson was released from jail nine days before he was arrested again on Aug. 5. The most recent arrest was triggered when Doubek alerted authorities about Hanson following her, stealing belongings from her house and damaging her vehicle.
According to Doubek’s statement, Hanson was following her, broke the taillights out of her vehicle and stole belonging from her house when she was at a friend’s house. Doubek said Hanson stole one swimsuit, underwear, one pair of Patagonia shoes, perfume and a pair of shorts.
Doubek noted that she had predicated Hanson would go to her house, despite the no-contact order, which is why she was at the friend’s house. Doubek and Hanson later communicated via text message.
Scott Kair, the person whose house Doubek went to, corroborated the story.
Because of the new charges stemming from the August altercation with Doubek and because he has broken the terms of his plea agreement for the former charges, Hanson will be held on $500,000 bond on one felony burglary charge, one felony stalking charge and one misdemeanor criminal mischief pecuniary loss charge.
Hanson’s hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 27.
