Yvonne Hamel, 85, of Libby

Yvonne B. Hamel, 85, passed away the morning of Tuesday, April 15 at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center in Libby. She was born Jan. 26, 1929 to Aurore and Adelard Hamel in Libby. Sometime later the family moved to Kalispell, and then to a permanent home in Troy. She attended and finished school in Troy. She graduated from Troy High School and entered Sacred Heart School of Nursing. She graduated nursing school and worked at Sacred Heart Medical Center for over 20 years.

She worked in nursing homes as a nurse until her retirement. She enjoyed being outdoors, working on her vegetable and flower gardens. She loved picking huckleberries in the fall in the mountains and going to blueberry farms and picking berries.

Survivors include her two brothers, Armand Hamel and Ronald Hamel, both of Troy; a nephew Lance Hamel, a niece Draya Hamel; and sister-in-law Rita Hamel.

Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Monday, April 21 at Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 22 at Milnor Lake Cemetery in Troy. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice in Yvonne’s name.
