The undefeated streak continued for the Libby Lady Logger softball team Thursday when they knocked off Columbia Falls, 10-6.

Libby (7-0) broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third when Kelsey Klin smacked an RBI triple down the left field line, inspiring Coach Dean Thompson to perform his best Carlton Fisk impression, waving the ball fair.

The Wildkats, who finished third in the state last season, claimed a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth, but Libby exploded for eight runs in the bottom half of the frame. Klin drove in three runs when she hit another triple to left.

Columbia falls responded with three runs in the top of the sixth, but went down in order in the bottom of the seventh. Pitcher Hannah England recorded her sixth and final strikeout to seal the win.

“That was an All-State pitcher we faced today,” Thompson said of junior Ashley Trueblood. “We started hitting the ball well on Saturday and it carried over. Our enthusiasm is carrying us.”

The Lady Loggers travel Thursday to Polson for a 4 p.m. contest.
