Libby High track

looking for helpers

Wayne Baker, Libby High School’s athletic director, is looking for volunteers to take time and assist in field events during the home track and field event at 10 a.m. April 26. Twelve to 15 people are needed. To help, call Wayne at 293-8802 ext. 1927.

Stargazer’s next

meeting Friday

The Kootenai Stargazers Astronomy Club will hold its next meeting at 6 p.m. Friday, April 18 at 324 White Avenue.

The club will present videos titled “Observing the Planet with a Telescope” and “Meteor Showers, Comets, Eclipses and More.”

Food and fellowship will begin at 6 p.m. The presentations will begin at 7 pm.

Boudreau to speak at

Christian Church

Justin Boudreau, a former high school teacher and author, will speak at an event called Gear Up for Excellence at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Libby Christian Church.

Students, families and members of the community are invited to attend the free event, which was sponsored by Lincoln County Unite for Youth, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the Sanders County Elevate Coalition.

Boudreau’s goal is to inspire young people to worry less about being cool and focus more on their futures. He wants to motivate students to start accepting themselves and understanding others.

proposed development

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking public comment for the Island Lake Fishing Access Site Proposed Development Draft Environmental Assessment located in Lincoln County at the following coordinates: T29N, R26W, NW? S31.

Fish, Wildlife & Parks proposes to develop the site, including a developed access road, a designated parking area, a single-wide concrete boat ramp, three or four designated campsites, a concrete vault latrine, informational and directional signs, fire rings and fencing.

The draft is out for a 30-day public review through May 11. Copies of the draft are available at the Fish, Wildlife & Parks office at 490 N. Meridian Rd., Kalispell; the Montana State Library at 1515 E 6th Ave., Helena; Fish, Wildlife & Parks State Headquarters at 1420 E 6th Ave., Helena; the Fish, Wildlife & Parks website at fwp.mt.gov under Public Notices; and available for viewing at local libraries.

Future Prosperity of Lincoln County

The third in a series of forums on The Future Prosperity of Lincoln County will be presented at 6 p.m. April 17 at the Libby Little Theatre.

The featured speaker will be Krista Gebert, regional economist for the northern region of the U.S. Forest Service. She will speak about sustainable economies, resilient communities and how the Forest Service contributes to social and economic stability.

Ron Carter also will report briefly on the Shay Locomotive Project.
