Libby softball wins fifth-straight game
The Lady Loggers (1-0, 5-0) made it five straight wins Tuesday when they whooped Whitefish, 11-0.
Hannah England’s arm and seven Whitefish errors propelled Libby to a win during their first conference game of the season. Shortstop Mahalah Wedel and catcher Devon Gallagher each picked up three hits.
“Anytime you can earn a conference win, it is a good thing for the program,” Libby Coach Dean Thompson said. “Hannah pitched well.”
England allowed only three hits during the five-inning affair.
With nine players returning with significant experience, the Loggers have played like a veteran team, routinely beating opponents in five innings.
“Devon and Mahalah are putting the bat on the ball really well,” Thompson said. “And Devon’s doing a great job behind the plate.”
Libby will host Thompson Falls on Saturday and Columbia Falls on Thursday.
“Thompson Falls was the state champ a few years ago,” Thompson said. “And Columbia Falls was third at state last season. They had a great pitcher.”
