Larry A. Nelson, 67, of Libby

Larry A. Nelson, 67, of Libby died from natural causes Wednesday April 9, 2014 at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center.

Larry was born Nov. 23, 1946 in Libby to Fred and Geraldine (Pearson) Nelson.

Larry’s family moved all over Lincoln County; consequently, Larry attended almost every school in the county.

Larry was drafted into the United States Army in 1966. After Larry’s honorable discharge, he returned to Libby where he went to work at J. Neils Lumber Company. Larry would later go to work for his father and uncle, John, in the woods.

In the late 1970’s, Larry moved to New Mexico and worked in a mine. Larry returned to Libby in 1981 and went back to work for his dad and uncle until 2000. Larry would spend his last few years working at the saw mill in Naples, Idaho.

Larry particularly enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling.

He was preceded in death by a son Jamie.

Survivors include his children Brenda Stevens of Frannie, Wyo., Doug Nelson of Kalispell, Tammy Nelson of Odessa, Texas, Janna Nelson of Hobbs, N.M., and Jason Nelson of Texas; two brothers Bruce Nelson of Post Falls, Idaho, Dean Nelson of Troy; and a special friend Mary Smith of Libby.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the Tobacco Valley Cemetery in Eureka.  

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at the Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby.
