Larry Birge, 92, of Libby

Larry Cordell Luvern Birge, 92, passed away at the Libby Care Center on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013.  

Larry was born Feb. 14, 1921, in Pomeroy, Wash., to Gen. Francis and LaVada (McAllister) Birge. Most of his working years were spent in the Tri-Cities area.

He was an electrician and belonged to the IBEW 112. Larry was a hard-working, well-respected man. He was project manager for Power City Electric when he retired in 1987. Larry and his wife, Velma, were longtime residents of Troy, where they could enjoy all amenities that the wilderness afforded them.

Larry loved fishing, hunting, hiking and camping.

He was an expert marksman and taught all his children and grandchildren (and down the line) the correct way to handle weapons.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Irene Rosendahl Birge of Libby; daughters, Sharlee Farrell of Libby, Jackie Ferguson of Boise, Idaho; sons, Joe Birge of Wenatchee, Wash., Tracy Birge of Portland, Ore.; daughter-to-be Rae Birge of Kennewick, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; and two great,  great-grandsons.

Viewing was held Sept. 25, 2013 at the Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home, 422 W 2nd St, in Libby.

Service at Richardson-Brown Funeral Home in Pomeroy, Wash., is pending.
