Runnerfell race scheduled for Sept. 13

The 24th annual youth Runnerfell for boys and girls ages 3 to 16 will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at Libby Elementary School track.

A brief awards ceremony will be held just before the the event for the 2013 T-shirt contest winner, Jacquelin Kurle, an eighth-grader at Libby Middle-High School.

Jacquelin will receive $50 cash, a T-shirt and various other coupons. 

Runners-up include Jayden Winslow, Trinity Hammers, Ashlynn Candee, Colton Halvorson, Kiara N. McLinden, Dylan Parrish, Zoie Spady and Cody Wood.

Honorable-mention artists included Hannah Simmons, Reece Maleyvac, Piper Vincent, Braylin Brooks, Annika Thorstenson, Annika Urvater, Kaleb Lindgren, Kyra Lambright and Niklaus Neuman.

This year, there were more than 325 entries. 

The race, which is held in conjunction with Nordicfest, is a pre-registration event. All runners must be registered by Sept. 11. There will be no late registration.

Runners who attend Libby public schools will not need to provide proof of insurance, as this year they will be covered by the school’s insurance policy. However, runners who do not attend Libby schools will need to provide proof of insurance. 

Entry forms are available at Libby Elementary, Libby Middle-High School, Kootenai Valley Christian School and various businesses, including Empire Foods, Mac’s Market, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Rosauers, Shoes & Socks, The Western News, The Montanian and The Kootenai Valley Record. 

Also, there is an online registration at libby.k12.mt.us.

Runners who finish the race will receive a ribbon and their T-shirt, if they ordered one.
