Lolo National Forest supervisor to retire

HAMILTON — The supervisor for the Lolo National Forest in western Montana is retiring.

The Ravalli Republic reports that Debbie Austin announced Friday that she will retire in January after a 35-year career.

Austin started her career at age 19 as a firefighter in Northern California.

Inspired to pursue a career with the U.S. Forest Service, she earned degrees in wildlife management and biology from Humboldt State University in California in 1982.
