Blaine J. Sarbaum, 57, of Libby

Blaine J. Sarbaum passed away after a short illness in Kalispell on Oct. 12, 2013.

He was born April 27, 1956, in Fargo, N.D., to John J. and Inez C. (Crews) Sarbaum. The youngest of three children, he was reared and educated in Montana and Idaho.  

After graduating from Boise State University, Boise, Idaho, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving at Fort Lewis, Wash., as a light-wheel vehicle mechanic.  

After discharge, he moved to Libby where he worked as a diesel mechanic and enjoyed the outdoor life including hunting and fishing.

His children were the center of his life, helping remodeling homes, babysitting grandchildren and hunting with his son and son-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Gavin.

Survivors include his children, Christine (Duane) Moeller and their three children, Amy Sarbaum and her four children, Holly Sarbaum and her two children, and William (Syndi) Sarbaum and their daughter;  his sister, Lynn (Jerry) Shuffield of Emmett, Idaho; his brother, Claude (Jolee) Sarbaum of Hamer, Idaho; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at Christ Lutheran Church in Libby.
