Reader laments the shooting of the mule deer
Letter to the Editor,
I was at the meeting in the Ponderosa Room last spring when the mule-deer problem was discussed.
I knew then it was just a matter of time before the shooting would start. And now, the beautiful buck is dead, and I bet he won’t be the last one. Killed by the people he trusted.
And now, “It wasn’t my fault.”
Somebody wanted him dead. He didn’t drop dead on his own. He was shot.
A man stood up at the meeting and said “Think before you start shooting. Once they are gone they won’t be back. Build a fence to protect your yard, pets and flowers.”
How right he was.
I’m reminded of a man we knew who shot the family milk cow (to put meat on the table).
None of the family would eat it.
So, what was gained? Just heartache to innocent others.
