The Going to the Sun Voices, consisting of 13 Libby and Troy singers, will present “A Traditional Christmas” at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, at the Memorial Center.

Included in the program will be cellist, Matthew Wellert, a 21-year-old student at the University of Montana.

Wellert, born in Santiago, Chile, is the co-principal cellist in the University of Montana Symphony, and currently performs with the Missoula Symphony, as well as guest performing for the Helena, Great Falls and Butte Symphonies. Highlights will include arrangements of “Jesu Bambino” and “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” for cello by Libby native and pianist Nita Smith.

Also performing will be guitarist Dr. Bill Cuskelly on arrangements of “Carol of the Bells” and “Greensleeves,” for guitar and cello, the Libby Children’s Select Choir under the direction of Lorraine Braun, and the vocal duo of Julie Meyer and pianist-vocalist Tony Smith.

Going to the Sun Voices, founded in 2010 by producer and director Smith for Kootenai River Rhythm concerts, will present the more traditional Christmas numbers revered and loved throughout the ages, including “O Holy Night,” “Let it Snow,” “White Christmas,” “O Little Town of Bethlehem” and other favorites.

Going to the Sun Voices consists of Kelly Palmer, Michelle Boltz, Logan Anderson, Trish Morford, Pam Norman, Chris Reichert, Crystal Webley, Julie Meyer, Kathy Ague, Smith, Rich Burns, Diane Rewerts and Andrea Wandler.

“A Traditional Christmas” has no admission fee, but donations to the Memorial Center are welcome.
