Students in southern Lincoln County are getting the anti-smoking message, and 20 of them participated in the Great American Smokeout Poster Contest sponsored by St. John’s Lutheran Hospital.

National Great American Smokeout Day was Nov. 21.

Students from Libby and Troy were asked to submit an anti-tobacco-themed poster and return it to the hospital for judging. The following students were winners: Cierra Lucas, sixth grade, Kootenai Valley Christian School; Kailey Nash, fifth grade, Morrison Elementary School and Delaney Sue Duve, sixth grade, Morrison Elementary School. Runners-up were Tawnya Thompson, sixth grade, Kootenai Valley Christian School, and Maizey Johnson, sixth grade, Morrison Elementary School.

The winning posters are featured on the St. John’s website and displayed at local businesses across Libby and Troy.

St. John’s Lutheran Hospital has smoking cessation kits available to assist those who want to kick the habit.

For more information on those kits contact Tanya Goyen at St. John’s at 283-7221.
