Hazel I. Walch

Hazel Irene Walch, 106, passed away Nov. 7, 2013, at her home in Troy.  

She was born Nov. 29, 1906, at Rosebud to Albert and Catherine Lloyd. She graduated from high school in Rosebud in 1924 and went into teaching at rural schools in the area.  

She attended college in Miles City, Dillon and Billings, receiving her teaching degree at Eastern Washington College in Cheney, Wash.

She married Charles Dickerson and had her only child.  She taught in Paradise for nine years before moving to Troy in 1959. She taught seventh and eighth grades  and was also a librarian until her retirement in 1972 after 15 years at Troy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Dickerson and Joseph Walch, and all 11 siblings.

Survivors include her son Owen Dickerson of Troy; two nieces, Leann and Phyliss, of Washington; special friends, Diane and Ron, their children Sara and Jenny, and Jenny’s children Erica, Jacob and Tyler.

She will be loved and missed greatly in Troy.

A memorial birthday celebration will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, at at the Troy Senior Citizen’s.  All are welcome. Memorials may be made to the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Troy.
