Veterans Day service is a worthwhile event
Letter to the Editor,
Another very moving service this Veterans Day, Nov. 11, and as usual a very low attendance.
I suppose some people were not aware of it or forgot about it. As for the rest of the people, I’m sure they give themselves an excuse as to why they did not attend — too busy or whatever and this year probably had what they thought was a better excuse — snow on the ground and too cold.
Well, you know that our service men and women who are still defending our freedom, those who came home missing legs and arms and will have problems for the rest of their lives, and those who gave their lives for us did not have ideal weather or other conditions to fight in either so we could have the freedom that we enjoy today.
Seems every year I write the same thing and it doesn’t change. Again, I will tell you it is always a very moving 20-minute service and when Taps are played, I believe that everyone there either had tears in their eyes or very close to it.
Please come next year and pay your respect.
