Pool tourney

fundraiser on Dec. 7

A pool tournament is planned for 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 at Mint Bar, 110 Mineral Ave.

Proceeds will assist the family of Duane McElmurry, who recently passed away.

Buy in is $5. Scotch doubles will be played with a blind draw. There will be raffles and a 50/50 drawing.

Turkey Dash

planned for Nov. 23

A race benefiting the Diabetes and Nutrition Prevention Program will start at 10 a.m. Nov. 23 at Montana Athletic Club.

Race fees before 5 p.m. Nov. 21 are $20 for adults and $15 for kids. Late entry costs $30 for adults and $25 for kids. Registration includes a t-shirt. Make checks payable to Turkey Dash. Registration may be dropped off or mailed to St. John’s Lutheran Hospital Diabetes at Community Outreach, 313 Montana Ave., Libby, MT 59923 or Montana Athletic Club, 952 E. Spruce St., Libby, MT 59923.

Packet pick-up will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Montana Athletic Club.

Motivational speaker

visiting Libby Nov. 25

Aric Bostick, a widely-known motivational speaker, will speak at 6:15 p.m. Nov. 25 at Central Administration Building in the Litte Theatre. A soup dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m.

Bostick will present a message about how students can “Live Their Dreams.” He has spoken to more than 500,000 teens and young adults across the country.

Bostick also helps parents, educators and adults learn strategies to connect with teenagers.

Before speaking in the Little Theatre, Bostick will speak at 10 a.m. at Libby Middle High School. His presentation is titled “Hero on Duty.”

Country Xmas

showing on Dec. 14

The Kootenai Heritage Council and International Special Attractions will present “A Country Christmas” at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Libby Memorial Events Center.

Barbara Fairchild and her husband, Roy Morris, will perform. Fairchild is known for her Grammy-nominated country music hit “The Teddy Bear Song” and numerous television appearances.

Tickets are $25 for non-members and $20 for members. Youth tickets are $10. Tickets are available at Cabinet Books, Homesteaders, Chamber of Commerce, Mountain Meadows, The Western News, River Mist, Rocky Mountain Music, The Hot Club and Booze N’ Bait.
