John E. Nores, Sr., 70, of Libby

John Edgar Nores, Sr., of Libby died Saturday, May 18, 2013, at his home.

John was born on Aug. 20, 1942, in San Diego, Calif., as the second son of Ed and Joy Nores.

John was educated in California attending Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, Calif., before serving his country in the National Guard and Army Reserves between 1964-1971.  

During that time he was trained as an infantry soldier and tank commander. After  military service, John was in the grocery business, being a checker and produce manager for more than 30 years in California and Montana.  

John retired from Rosauers grocery store in Libby in 2002.

John was an avid hunter and angler his entire life, as well as a skilled trap, skeet, and combat rifle, shotgun, and handgun competitor.  

John loved the outdoors, and instilled that love in his kids. 

John is survived by four children, who include three sons, Lt. John Nores, Jr., of Morgan Hill, Calif., a member of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement officer; Paul Nores of Hollister, Calif., an  electrician; a son, Thomas Nores of Los Gatos, Calif., a film producer; and  a daughter, Laura Nores of Santa Cruz, Calif., a San Jose Fire captain and author.

John is also survived by eight siblings: Bob, Michael, Gerald, Steve, Gary, Keith, Debbie, and Carol.

Private family services will be held.
