LES sixth-graders tour Heritage Museum

| May 21, 2013 10:35 AM

The Libby Elementary sixth-grade classes were invited to tour the Heritage Museum last Friday, before its annual opening day and after the hours that it would normally be open.

During their night at the museum they encountered some unusual occurrences while taking part in a unique learning experience.

After their tour of the museum, a scavenger hunt sent them searching throughout the building for answers to specific questions. When their time in the museum was up, they were escorted to the Cook House where they enjoyed milk and brownies while listening to captivating tales told by a spirited storyteller.

The idea for the children’s tour was hatched among members of the Exhibit Committee as they worked long hours in the off-season preparing the museum for its annual opening.

There are creaks and other noises that got their minds wandering. Where it led was an educational experience based on local history.

Volunteers included Becky Timmons, Mark Morain, Susan Castaneda, Shannon Ostrowski, Terry Peck, Keith Meyers, Ed Levert, Willie Sykes, Charlotte Morain, Jasmine Augustine, Russ Gautreaux, Tammy Byrd, Jennifer Nelson, Darrell Orr and Bob Castaneda.
