Nicholas Zelenak, 73, of Libby

Nicholas S. Zelenak, 73, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital.  

He was born Jan. 18, 1940, at Detroit, Mich., to Nicholas and Helen Zelenak.  He grew up and attended schools  in Detroit, graduating from Lincoln Park High School in 1957. He attended college in Mexico City.

He played baseball with the Detroit Tigers. Nicholas worked on the Alaska pipeline, Libby Dam and for W. R. Grace. He was an avid sports fan, loved to play sports trivia, enjoyed the outdoors and fishing.

He was preceded in death by a stepson, Shawn Schermerhorn, and stepdaughter, Cyndy Rae Flynn.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene Zelenak of Libby; sisters, Kathleen Diometti of Detroit, Pat (Michael) Grandi of Oxford, Miss., Pam (Gerald) Shook of Water Valley, Miss.; three grandchildren, one great-grandson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

No services are being held at this time.  

Arrangements are by Schnackenberg and Nelson Funeral Home & Crematory in Libby.
