Charlotte R. Managhan, 92, of Libby

| March 22, 2013 2:38 PM

Charlotte R. Managhan, 92, passed away peacefully of natural causes, with her three loving children, Linda, Mike and Marcia, by her side,  on Monday, March 18, 2013 at her home in Libby.

She was born to Frank and Martha Redpath on July 26, 1920, one of five children.

She grew up in Somers, graduating from Flathead High School, where she met and married the love of her life, Billy Managhan.

They were wed June 1, 1940, and spent the early 1940s living in Kodiak, Alaska, where their first child, Linda, was born in 1943.  After returning to Kalispell to become a sheet-metal worker, sons Larry and Mike were born to the family.  They moved to Libby in 1950 and added daughter Marcia to the fold in 1953.

Charlotte enjoyed being an active member of the Methodist Church and a member of Eastern Star.

She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing clothes for her family, and making prom dresses, cheerleading outfits and many other items.  Charlotte was known as a great cook, especially when it came to baked goods. Persons never left her home hungry.

Her specialties were homemade pies and breads.  One of her loves was family get-togethers, as well as camping, boating, and fishing with her family and friends.

Perhaps her greatest love was playing cards with family and friends. She was a member of several bridge and pinochle clubs, but enjoyed beating people at any game they wanted to play.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her son, Larry; and siblings, Don, Gordon, Howard, and Louella.

Survivors include her children, Linda (Jerry) Smith of Spokane, Michael L. Managhan of Kalispell and Marcia (Frank) Glenn of Spokane; seven grandchildren,  Todd, Jerilyn, Tracy, Jamie, Angie, Lee and Mark; and great-grandchildren, Hunter, Haley, Morgan, Ryan, Maddox, Jaxson, Marlee, Daisy, Cooper and Emily.

Services for Charlotte will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at the United Methodist Church, 713 Main Ave., in Libby. Memorials may be given to hospice in Libby.

Local arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral home in Libby.
