Mild winter puts SJLH construction ahead
A mild winter without building setbacks has put construction of St. John’s Lutheran Hospital about five months ahead of schedule.
St. John’s Hospital Facilities Manager Tony Rebo led a tour of the new facility, which he now says could be complete by Jan. 1.
“It has been a mild winter, and things have been moving well,” Rebo said of the $35 million, 77,000 square-foot building in which 25 spacious patient rooms will occupy the second floor.
Swank Enterprises crews, which began work on the site in October, have made great progress, Rebo said, indicating all tests on concrete have come back to standard. Rebo also said about 25 percent of the electrical, heating and air-conditioning duct work has been completed.
Rebo said 37 Lincoln County residents in February were working on the project, contributing $226,074.20 to the local economy. To date, $1.267 million has been spent on the project.
