Mayor-elect Winfrey at work Earle D. Winfrey, Jr., chosen Monday to serve as mayor for the next two years, was caught by The Western News photographer as he worked in the greenhouse at Libby Floral. a resident of Libby since 1939, Winfrey graduated from Libby High School in 1944. He served in the Army for two years and was in Europe with the 99th Infantry Division. Returning to Libby after World War II, he worked at the local Ford garage and operated a service station until he started in the floral business in 1956. He is married to the former Alice McRell, and they have two daughters. A past president of the Libby Jaycees, Winfrey has served on the city council since 1961 and is president of the council.
