Former owner of the Dome Theater deserves better, feels story was unfair to her efforts

Letter to the Editor,

As a personal friend of the previous Dome Theater owner, I was extremely disgusted with the way that she was portrayed in the recent article regarding the Arnolds’ purchase of the theater.

How would you feel if you were 24 years old and had just taken over a family business, only to find out that you had just invested your life into an industry that required expensive new equipment to even run?

It’s great that Jamie Arnold has the money to get the Dome running, but there’s no need to make Ms. Gilden appear to be a bad business owner. She depended on the theater as her sole income.

Without a new projector, she could not show movies, and without movies she could not earn the money necessary to buy a new projector. She did not accept local offers for help because she was trying to sell the place and get it into the hands of someone who had the resources to put in the new projector.

As for the false advertising of “Fun Size,” did people actually keep showing up to see that movie while it was posted on the billboard? From what I saw, most nights that the show actually did play, no one even went to see it.

As a previous Dome employee, I’m glad the theater will be up and running again. However, I don’t think I will be taking my business there.
