Dome Theater is sold; new owner hopes to reopen in two months
Libby will soon again have a movie theater.
Jamie and Charles Arnold, 12-year residents of Libby, have purchased the Dome Theater, and they plan to reopen the downtown landmark within the next two months.
“We signed the papers Friday,” said Jamie Arnold, who is a nurse at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital. “We’re pretty excited about it.”
Arnold and her husband, Charles, have two children, Taylor and Drew. Charles is an Afghanistan war veteran.
“There is so much to do,” Jamie Arnold said. “We’re waiting on the contractor, so when we open depends on when he can get in there and get work done.”
She estimated there to be nearly $13,000 of repair work that must be done before they can reopen.
“You should watch our Facebook page, dometheaterproject,” Arnold said. “We’ll update the public through there.”
In addition to the immediate repairs, Arnold said the theater must purchase a digital movie projector to be able to show current movies.
“We need to purchase a $45,000 Barco projector,” she said. “We’ll be holding fundraisers to help us raise money. A huge thank you to everyone supporting the Dome. If there are any items you would like to donate for a auction at one of our fundraisers let me know. The people of Libby already have been so supportive of this. We’re excited.”
