More questions for city leaders

| March 3, 2013 11:09 AM

Letter to the Editor,

City leadership: In response to the infrastructure problems, I would suggest that you look to maintain our city sewers, streets and current Flower Creek dam.

First, start by cleaning out the storm drains. That will cut down dramatically the asphalt going to the wastewater treatment plant.

Secondly, Mr. Mayor, encourage people to keep the street in front of their homes picked up if they can. Less litter and debris on the streets means less in the drain. Also, if the streets were paved and maintained as they should be, there would be less asphalt going into the system.

You shouldn’t have to ask an engineer that.

So, before you spend more of our money on another engineering disaster, please just take care of what we already have.

If we are struggling to maintain the simple dam we already have, why are you looking into a more complex hydroelectric dam?

Who’s getting the bill for the sewer plant redo?

Why, after more than $1 million spent, isn’t this project working properly?

When do we get to see any of our investment at the treatment plant pay off by working properly?

Why wasn’t the debris issue addressed before we blew the money on this new system?

The questions still remain as to how leadership is correcting these oversight issues with the engineering firm.

When is city leadership going to show us they are being good stewards of our money? It’s why we elected them.
