Ralph H. Shearer, 76, of Libby

Ralph H. “Bud” Shearer, 76, died Tuesday June 4, 2013, of natural cuases at his home in Libby.

He was born June 5, 1936, in Missoula to Ralph L. and Wilma R. (Moss) Shearer.  

Ralph spent his childhood in Montana and in Idaho. At 12, he started painting houses, a profession he continued throughout his life. 

Ralph married Wilma R. Knipprath on June 26, 1956.  He worked at Zonolite in the 1960s, and in 1966, Ralph moved to Tillamook, Ore., and worked for the Diamond Lumber, Co., for a few years as a lumber grader. He later returned to house painting as a painter contractor.  

Ralph moved to Coos Bay, Ore., where he continued to build his own business as a paint contractor.  

In 1980, he moved back to Libby where he continued painting until he retired.  Ralph loved the outdoors and being with family. He was an avid reader, gardener, woodworker and jack of all trades.  He made some wonderful friends along his life journey. 

His son, Raymond, and three sisters preceded him in death. 

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Shearer of Libby; children, Vicky (Bruce) Hall of Libby; Janell Baker of Rockaway, Ore.; Rebecca (Elmer) Schikora of Libby; Clinton (Laura) Shearer of Dickinson, N.D.; and numerous grandchildren great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held.
