Tammy Anderson has been chosen at Quilter of the Year by the Tender Lovin’ Quilters.

Each year in preparation for the guild’s annual show, its members in Troy make a choice among their group of who should receive the honor. Anderson is that selection.

This summer’s quilt show entitled “All Roads Lead to Montana” will take place July 3 and 4. Quilt registration forms may be picked up at Sue Bee’s quilt shop in Libby or Cutting Crew in Troy.

Anderson grew up in Montana and began sewing as a girl of just 11. She was influenced by her mother who was an accomplished seamstress. Her mother showed her the basic techniques, and then set her free with her sewing machine.

Anderson made many clothes for her children while they were young, and many household items as well until she was introduced to quilting in the late ’90s.

Anderson enjoys working with bold bright colors and says one of her favorite things to make are baby quilts. She also enjoys making purses and tote bags.

She is a hairstylist by trade, who owns and operates her own business in Troy, Cutting Crew Salon and Fitness Center.

Anderson and her husband of 33 years, Cole, have two sons, Adam and Jared.
