Dome Theater gets digital projector
Jamie Arnold and the Dome Theater’s new digital projector arrived on Wednesday, with installation assistance from Dan Devoe of American Cinema Equipment in Portland, Ore.
“It’s going to be state-of- the-art,” said Devoe. “It’ll handle anything and everything the studio can throw at it.”
The new computerized Barco Digital Cinema Projector has several new advantages over the old one, including high definition picture, color and digital sound.
Arnold raised about $15,000 with community donations. The projector cost $45,000, and Arnold paid the balance.
“I forked the money out to (replace) the dinosaur, it’s just the way it had to be,” said Arnold. “There are still so many things the community can do with the stage. We can still have fundraisers and everything.”
The Dome Theater will premier the new projector and sound system this weekend with “Monsters University,” currently the No. 4 movie in the country.
“It’s a perfect match for this theater,” said Devoe.
