Watch city leaders, go to meetings, pay attention to your City Council
Letter to the Editor,
I am not sure just what is going on here in Libby, but I believe that we should all pay a little more attention to what the City Council is doing.
Last night, they agreed to go ahead with killing deer in town, and I am not sure who all wants the deer killed, because I have heard nobody tell me they want to do so, except Libby’s government.
I am sure there are some, but how many?
And what about the cost of the new dam and water-line replacement, as well as being forced to install additional water meters. It appears the cost is escalating over $20 million. I figure that could add about $70 a month to our water bills. Can that be? We pay $70 a month now, so will our new monthly bill be $140 a month in a couple years? How will that affect Libby?
Also, since the City Council changed the criminal laws into civil violations, we have received a violation concerning snow removal, which is OK, but why no warnings first?
And, in asking my clients, there have been many more violations sent out, using people’s driver’s license information.
So, was this change in laws to civil violations, which we were told was for easier administration, just another way for the city to raise money through fines?
I am very concerned about the future of Libby, not for me, personally, as I am near the end of my working life, but for younger residents and others who have to make a living here.
We should all pay more attention to just what our leaders are doing to us. Attend meetings.
Being quiet does not help anyone.
