SJLH anesthesia team gets new team member
St. John’s Lutheran Hospital welcomes Kent Bryan Gustin, CRNA, to its anesthesia and surgical teams.
Gustin comes to Libby with a vast experience of knowledge from all over the country. Most recently, he and his wife were living in Clarkston, Wash., but Gustin was traveling and doing locums (temporary, as needed) work before deciding to settle down right here in Lincoln County.
Gustin is a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA), is a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA), and currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Washington Association of Nurse Anesthetists (WANA).
He received his bachelors of science in nursing from Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho, 11 years ago, and completed his masters of science in nurse anesthesia from Midwestern University in Glendale, Ariz., in 2006.
Since, Gustin has enjoyed practicing anesthesia as both a locums and a permanently employed anesthetist from Idaho to Washington, California, and even West Virginia and Texas.
“I was drawn to this area like a magnet,” said Gustin. “I was raised in northern, Idaho and am very familiar with the area. It was like coming home.”
It was Libby and its vast array of outdoor adventure opportunities that helped Gustin make the decision to stop doing locums work and settle down in one place.
A CRNA is an advanced practice registered nurse who has acquired graduate-level education and board certification in anesthesia.
Certification is governed by the National Boards of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, hunting, hiking, fishing, and rock climbing. But his true passion is for college football and basketball.
He enthusiastically cheers on his favorite teams, University of Washington and Montana State University, whenever he gets the opportunity. “Go Cougs and Cats!”
