Thomas (Tom) Siefke Sr., 68, passed away at St. Patricks Hospital on Jan. 4, 2013, because of complications from a cardiac arrest.

He was born in Libby on July 11, 1944, to Paul Siefke and Mildred Hays. Tom was the oldest of seven children. He attended school in Libby.

Tom married Donna Byington in March 1963, and they had four children. Tom served in the U.S. Army-Company D at Fort Ord, Calif., 4th battle group 1st brigade and received an honorable discharge in 1969.

He worked as a sawyer, as well as on a fishing boat in Alaska, and up until the time of his death he was a professional truck driver with CRST Malone for more than 17 years. He had many safety awards including his “1 Million Miles Without an Accident” award.

In 1987, he met Lindy Amsk, and they have spent the last 25 years together.

Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golfing and most of all he loved spending time with friends and family. His grandchildren brought him his greatest joy.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, a son Larry as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He sometimes had a very challenging life and nothing ever came easy, but he was such a caring person that even in death, he was still giving by donating his corneas to the Lifesight program so somebody else would benefit.

Survivors include his wife, Lindy, of Florence, his sons, Tom (Dar) Siefke Jr., Barry (Kathy) Siefke and daughter Theresa Siefke, all of Oregon. He also leaves behind his step-children Christi (Bob) Stoltz, Billy (Dana) Amsk, Jason (Jill) Amsk, Gary (Ty) Sanders, Andrea (Brent) McClellan and Les Sanders.

Also surviving are his sisters Joy Galloway, Gayle Parker, and Dayle Mercier, brothers Steve Siefke and Alan Siefke. He had eightgrandchildren two great-grandchildren and 13 step-grandchildren.

Per Tom’s wishes, no services are planned, but a private family celebration will be planned for this summer  in Libby.

Brothers Mortuary in Hamilton is in charge of arrangements and condolences may be left on their website at www.brothersmortuary.com or to Lindy at 313 Arlington Drive, Florence, Mont.,  59833.
