Destiny Tallmadge, 20, of Troy
Destiny Rene Tallmadge, 20, of Troy went to “fly on her own wings” on Feb. 19, 2013.
Destiny was born to Josh and Jada in Libby on June 22, 1992.
She grew up in the Northwest, attended school in Troy and graduated from Troy High School in 2010.
Destiny was born with a rare chromosomal disease called neurofibromatosis. She spent a lot of her life in Seattle at the Seattle Children’s Hospital as well as Shriner’s Hospital in Spokane, Wash.
She was a very active child and grew up to love the spotlight. Destiny was involved in many school activities including drama and cheerleading.
Many people would have thought her disability would have slowed her down but, amazingly, it never did. Her contagious vigor for life allowed her to touch and inspire all she came in contact with.
Des was a natural when it came to children. She always had time for her brothers, be it a spontaneous photo shoot or baking some tie-dyed cookies, it didn’t matter. She loved doing crazy random things with them.
Destiny had a passion to travel and had many places on her bucket list. She loved her family but dreamed of living in Texas.
She began her journey with her best friend, Courtney Pils, in July 2012 by moving to San Antonio, Texas. Destiny obtained a job as a perfume saleswoman at Macy’s Department Store, and during her short time there she excelled at her sales and frequently doubled her daily sales goal. She was very easy to talk to whether young or old, and her outgoing spirit was impossible to resist.
Destiny is survived by her father and step-mother Josh and Nicole Tallmadge; her mother and step-father Jada and Ben Schnetter; brothers Gage, Jadon and Wylee; paternal grandparents Stan and Chris Tallmadge; and maternal grandparents John Brown and Mary Ruth Bellamy; best friend Courtney Pils; great-grandparents Bea Tallmadge, Joan and Rusty Maynard, Ed Hansen; step grandparents, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
A celebration of Destiny’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Troy Baptist Church.
Viewing will be held at the Schnackenberg and Nelson Funeral Home from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb 27.
