Bill B. Heinlein, 85, of Grants Pass, Ore.

Bill B. Heinlein, 85, of Grants Pass, Ore., died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Three Rivers Medical Center.

A viewing will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan.  16, 2013, at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan.  17, 2013, at Eagle Point National Cemetery with Ryan Clark conducting.

Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 31 W. 6th St., Medford, Ore., 97501.

Bill was born April 28, 1927, in Hoehne, Colo., to William and Myrtle Heinlein. 

During World War II he served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea. After earning a master’s degree, he taught school in Colorado. In the early 1950s he moved from Colorado to Grants Pass where for many years he taught at Merlin Elementary, Fleming Junior High, and North Junior High Schools until his retirement in 1979. 

On June 9, 1959, in Reno, Nev., he married Dorothy King. 

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Heinlein of Grants Pass, Ore.; four children: Judy Jacoby of Grants Pass; Debra (Stewart) Cernick of Libby; Marion Milstead of Grants Pass; and John (Sandy) Heinlein of Libby; numerous grandchildren including Doug DeShazer of Libby, Jackie DeShazer of Libby, Adam Heinlein of Libby, John Heinlein of Ellensburg, Wash., Ashlee Heinlein Ogden, Utah,  Michael and Carson Heinlein and many  great-grandchildren inlcuding Luke, Jace and Tristan DeShazer of Libby, Brooklym Heinlein of Ellensburg, Wash., and one great-great-grandson.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
