Danny J. Powell, 55, formerly of Libby

| December 31, 2013 8:43 AM

Danny James Powell went to celebrate Christmas with his Heavenly Father on Dec. 25, 2013.

Cancer quickly took his life, but on that morning he slipped away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his daughter, niece and sister.

He resided with his niece, Heidi (Stubbs) Thompson, in McMinnville, Ore.

Danny was born in Libby to Donald and Jacqueline Powell on April 9, 1958, and was the last of 12 children. He was loved by all and called Uncle Dan by many. His love for children was abundant and it showed every day of his life.

Uncle Dan’s passion was children, and they gave him a reason to live life to the fullest. Whenever possible he would be outside going for a walk to the park with nieces and nephews or entertaining his great-twin nieces, Jersey and Rylie. He molded them from birth to love birds, flowers, gardening and lady bugs.

Danny had a great love for the Lord and said church was in our back yard. Always telling people not to worry, because he prayed for them. Dan’s early years in Montana were filled with loving his children, working for a construction company and the market in Troy. In his spare time he was a volunteer for the fire department in Troy and loved swimming, fishing and camping.

He is survived by his daughter, Elaine Jacqueline Powell, of Spokane; sons,  Tyler Wayne Powell of Troy, Dalton James Powell also of Troy; and four grandchildren.

Contributions can be made to the McMinnville Noon Kiwanis or the Troy Fire Department in care of Macy and son.

The family would love to have you over to their house, 1908 Orchard Ave., McMinnville, Ore., at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, to share stories and love on one another.

Danny’s final resting place will be in Libby  where the family plans to spend Father’s Day weekend camping on the Fisher River and doing what he loved most.
