Local speech and drama team takes second place in regionals
Libby High’s Speech and Drama team earned second place in a competition last weekend that featured fierce theatric fervor.
A group of 11 teams registered, but only 10 showed when Frenchtown suffered bus issues. Flathead and Glacier competed in the AA division. Libby, Columbia Falls, Whitefish, Polson and Stevensville competed in the A division. Eureka, Bigfork and Ronan filled out the B division.
More than 400 kids competed. Libby captain Anthony Dewey and Makana Shriner placed first in “Serious Duo;” Dewey and Kaysha Hermann placed first and second respectively in “Serious Solo;” Billy Topaz finished third in “Humorous Solo;” Patrick Faulkner finished fourth in “Mime;” Faulkner and Jessica Miller finished fifth in “Classical Duo;” Brianna Benefield and Karol Burke finished 8th in “Humorous Duo.”
Head Coach Shelley Fisher said she was exhausted after a large tournament that occupied both the elementary school and high school. She wanted to particularly thank Patty Rambo and Bruce Fuller for making wooden chainsaw trophies for the kids.
