Lillian Martinez, 80, formerly of Libby

Lillian Martinez, formerly of Libby, died Nov. 16, 2013, in Reno, Nev., at Renown North Hospital of complications of lung cancer.

She was born Feb. 9, 1933, and was married to Nicholas Martinez for 20 years. He preceded her in death in 2002.

Lillian also was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Martha Schikora of Libby.

Lillian has five surviving siblings all but one reside in Libby. They include David Schikora, Willis Schikora, Pauline Nixon and William Schikora. A sister, Joyce Volcore is of of Helena.

There are 10 surviving children, Armand Ray Couture of Corvallis, Kathy Schikora of Oregon, Nancy Peterson of Twin Falls, Idaho, Helen Brunson of Big Bear, Calif., Mike Martinez of Taos, N.M., Frances Martinez of North Dakota, Lucia Martinez of Sheridan Wyo., Juanita Martinez of Arizona, Josephine Nunez, Albuquerque, N.M., and Jerry Martinez of Longmont Colo.

Also there are 13 grandchildren of whom Joseph Schmidt preceded her in death 2009.

There are 18 great-grandchildren.

She spent many years living in West Yellowstone and most recently Fallon, Nev.

Lillian loved the outdoors, western movies, reading western books living in the mountains, she felt most at peace at the Martinez ranch “Bobcat” in Red River, N.M.
