As the new principal of Libby Middle/High School it is my sincere pleasure to become a member of this school community.

Libby schools enjoy a rich history of excellence in many areas.   During the summer I have had an opportunity to meet many staff and families of Libby. I am truly honored to be given the opportunity to work with a dedicated staff to provide the best possible educational program for Libby students.

I have been blessed with a varied public education background that ranges from elementary to high school teacher, elementary and middle school principal, administrator of: a magnet program, gifted and talented education, parent involvement, summer school, pre-kindergarten, and some federal programs.

Although my former school district was large in comparison to Libby Public Schools, I find many similarities, one of which is the student-centered approach to education which results in excellence.  Another similarity is that parents, staff and community members work collaboratively for the benefit of students.  Both of these qualities attracted me to Libby Public Schools.

I am very grateful to be a part of the Libby community serving the staff, students and families.

I believe the educational programs must be academically challenging, engage each student by linking the curriculum to previous knowledge and experiences and also be exciting to promote further exploration of new ideas.  Parents, teachers, support staff and administrators all have important roles to encourage our students to become active learners. It is my sincere desire to provide opportunities for our students to acquire the skills to become digitally literate, productive citizens in a vastly changing society.

Libby Middle/High will hold two orientations this year on Aug. 27.  The Middle School Orientation (seventh and eighth) will begin in the gym at 5:30 p.m. followed by a mini-seven-period day for you to meet the teachers.

High school orientation (ninth to 12th) will begin at 7 p.m. and follow the same format as middle school.

I look forward to meeting the Libby community.
